Reading Tips

It is very important for your child to read every night for at least 20 minutes. The more your child reads the more they will learn! If your child is a struggling reader there are great websites to assist you. The best one that I have found is http://www.readingrockets.org/. This website has a wealth of information to assist you in helping your child become a successful reader!!

How do the seasons affect the trees?
We took a nature walk this week to see what the trees look like during the summer in Georgia. Here is a picture of our class in front of the trees. Notice how the leaves are green.
I wonder how they will look next month when we go back to see them in the Fall.

Place Value
We have been working on Place Value in Math. I found a great activity for the students to practice their skills on identifying the place and value of the digits. We are working on identifying the place value to the thousands place. Your child may need some assistance on larger numbers.

August
We have learned so much the first month of school!!
We have watched water change from a solid (ice), to a liquid (water), and finally evaporate to a gas (water vapor) with Mrs. Ramps' class. The class has also finished the unit in Math on graphing. We have learned a lot about each other by completing venn diagrams, bar graphs, pictographs, and tally charts. In reading we are learning how to compare ourselves to stories, compare and contrast stories, and find similarities between stories and the world. We are studying rules, laws, rights, and responsibilities in Social Studies which is helping us to become better citizens at home, in school, and our community!
We have had a great start to our year and I know it is going to continue!
